Nancy is a qualified psychotherapist who is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), and Certified Clinical Supervisor for mental health Professionals in the state of Virginia. She has clinical expertise in treating general anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and personality disorders in children, adolescents, and adults as well as helping families dealing with various stressors. She specializes in providing clinical therapy with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Nancy has over 10 years of experience in the mental health and social work field working with Trauma, Relationship and Marital difficulties, and Special Populations such as Military Personnel, Veterans of the Armed Forces and the Caregivers that support them. She has a broad range of experience varying from the mental health arena, adolescence and the school system, family, couples & individual therapy, working with domestic violence survivors, case management, crisis intervention, and child protective services. These experiences in the field of social work have provided her with a well-rounded exposure to a variety of social service settings that have prepared her to adapt to any situation in the mental health and social work field.
She serves as an advocate and works alongside with mothers struggling with postpartum and perinatal mood disorders through the organization, Postpartum Support Virginia. Nancy specializes in providing psychotherapy for a variety of emotional difficulties.
Nancy earned her Bachelor’s in Social Work at Rutgers University, followed by her Master’s in Rutgers University’s Advanced Placement Program in Social Work. She holds a current license to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and is a Certified Clinical Supervisor.
Nancy created Vanguard Therapy,LLC on the tenets of an eclectic style of therapy utilizing different treatment modalities to assist clients to reach their optimal level of functioning. She believes that people have the capacity to change and her treatment methods are based on each client’s or family’s needs. She uses a variety of therapeutic modalities including eclectic, cognitive-behavioral, DBT, life coaching, solution-focused, Christian Counseling, family therapy, couples, and individual therapy. Nancy specializes in addressing issues such as depression, anxiety, mood disorders, personality disorders, family & parenting issues, women’s issues(PPD/PPA/Infertility & Loss), relationship issues, and transition/life changes.
